On June 7, 2021, Vermont passed legislation to enact the Nurse Licensure Compact. This new legislation allows registered nurses and licensed practical/vocational nurses to practice in any other Nurse Licensure Compact state, if they have a multi-state compact license.
The compact was signed into law by Governor Phil Scott of Vermont, and is set to be implemented on February 1, 2022.
Vermont will become the 36th jurisdiction to enact the Nurse Licensure Compact. With this new legislation, the Vermont legislature hopes to improve public safety by making it easier for nurses and other healthcare professionals to travel to and practice in their state.
