More travel healthcare jobs with winter start dates have come out of Nevada in recent weeks, according to StaffDNA job board and labor market data.

At least 70 jobs are currently available in the state, which is a larger volume than some agencies and recruiters have seen in 2018.

This is typical for the state, as Nevada tends to wait a little longer to ramp up winter staffing, said Jennifer Pomietlo, a director of client advisory at LiquidAgents Healthcare.

“It usually hits a little later and census tends to pick up for them later,” Pomietlo said.

Winter is a busy month for healthcare providers in Nevada, especially in Las Vegas as a plethora of major international conventions and events are held in the city in December and January, which can raise census numbers.

Travel nurses looking to start immediately may have to plan ahead since Nevada is not a compact license state.

However, after the Nevada State Board of Nursing launched their online portal earlier this year, processing for temporary licenses has dropped significantly and is comparable to walk-through states. Travel nurses have reported receiving new temporary licenses within two days, Pomietlo said.
